Martha Soto Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha Jane Soto 64, passed away June 25, 2015 at her daughter’s home in San Bernardino, CA after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer that began in April 2014. Martha was born August 12, 1950 in Claremore, OK to Wilson J. Jones Sr. and Mollie B. Jones. She was a full blood American Indian of the Muskogee Creek and Choctaw tribes. Martha and her family moved from Oklahoma to California in 1953. She graduated from San Gorgonio High School in 1968 and worked for the San Bernardino police department for 30 years. Martha was an amazing woman with a heart of gold and a laugh you will always remember. She has touched so many lives and will continue to do so through the stories and moments we will all retell for many years to come. Her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends meant everything to her. We are deeply saddened but we do find comfort in knowing, as much as our mother loved life and people, she is loved just as much back. To know her was to love her. She had a strong Christian faith and we all know she is with the lord and at peace. She is no longer battling so bravely against the disease. She is now an Angel in heaven looking down and protecting all of the people in her life that she loved so much. Martha was preceded in death by her parents as well as siblings Joseph J Jones Sr and Linda K Jones. Martha is survived by daughters Mollie J Soto and Maria M Soto, grandson RJ Rothenberger, granddaughters Mercedes J Sepulveda and Tori K Reyes, sisters Peggy S Thompson and Sally R Lindsey, and brothers Wilson J Jones Jr and Roger T Jones. She also had numerous nephews and nieces as well as a large extended family of close friends. Viewing will be Wednesday July 8 from 5pm to 8pm at Mark B Shaw Mortuary in San Bernardino. Funeral is Thursday July 9, 10 am, also at Mark B Shaw. Burial to follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Reception to follow burial at Elks Lodge – 2055 Elks Dr. San Bernardino, CA. 92404
