Jessie Vega
February 25, 1930 - October 16, 2015
Jessie Vega, 85, a lifetime resident of San Bernardino, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2015. She was an avid Dodgers fan who rarely missed a televised game. Even in her pain, the mention of “Dodgers” brought a smile to her face. In her youth, she worked with her family picking crops in Northern California. She often shared fond memories of these times. She kept in close contact with her childhood friends from Ramona Primary School and Alessandro Junior High and met often for luncheons. Her best memories, from her youth, included times playing with her loving siblings. She enjoyed sharing these stories with her nieces and nephews during family visits. As an adult, she worked in nursing at San Bernardino County Hospital for 35 years. Her career field was indicative of her caring nature to her loved ones. Jessie cared deeply for her many nieces and nephews. Sundays were filled with family visits at her home she shared with her sister, Carmen. For many years her family spent their Christmas Eves at her home eating homemade tamales and opening presents. She contributed to Saint Jude Foundation and did volunteer work for many years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Bernardino. Jessie, a world traveler, enjoyed her trips to Europe, South America, and throughout the United States. In her adult life, Jessie spent countless hours watching sports, volunteering, and enjoying life with her only sister Carmen. She is survived by her sister, Carmen Vega of San Bernardino, brothers Manuel Vega of Camarillo, Paul Vega of San Bernardino and Louis Vega of Rialto and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be at Mark B. Shaw at 1525 N. Waterman Ave, San Bernardino on Monday, October 26 at 5pm. A mass service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 1430 W 5th St, San Bernardino on Tuesday, October 27 at 10am. Burial to follow at Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in San Bernardino.
